For the 2018 graduation show of the Studio for Immediate Spaces I created an exhibition identity with various materials based on borders and crossing into the unknown.
The Studio for Immediate Spaces or SIS concerns itself with spaces and placemaking. Their graduation show titled Event Horizon denotes both a 70's science fiction film and the edge of a black hole. Black holes hold a symbolic meaning for art students as they are kind of the cynical representation of what will happen you will leave this bubble. So crossing the Event Horizon can either be a move outside or inside the black hole.
Boundaries and old sci-fi books are at the centre of the design of the exhibition identity. The circles never fit, the 'o's in all the titles and the show title is given a more graceful look which asks you to move through it. Besides that the black on black and white on white printing leaves room for ambiguity in the identity.
